Although Bigme’s claim of the Hibreak Dual being the first LCD/color e-ink phone may hold technically, the idea isn’t entirely new: Yota, a defunct Russian phone maker, launched the "Yotaphone" as early as 2012. That model featured a 4.2-inch LCD up front and a grayscale e-ink panel on the rear. Several versions were released over time, but they never achieved global distribution, and Yota ceased operations in 2019.
